# Oakenton
_Firbolg Druid | Heroes of Waterdeep | Feywild_
## Summary
Firbolg druid known by many names — "Doorknob," "Goodberry," and finally his true name, Oakenton. A former member of the Righteous Order of the White Flame under the Sun King, Oakenton was destroyed at the bottom of the Blood Rift in the Abyss and resurrected through a dark bargain Ren struck with Baba Yaga. The cost: the memory of what he loved most. He wandered into the Feywild as a nameless amnesiac, was nicknamed "Doorknob" by Princess Danelian Dandelion, and adventured through the War of the Fey and the Oblivion War before his memories finally returned. Appointed Clan Leader of the Firbolgs. Killed during the Battle of Waterdeep defending the city from Graz'zt's demonic invasion. Resurrected by Ren after the war. They now live together in the Feywild.

## At a Glance
A large, gentle Firbolg with the quiet steadiness of old-growth forest. Never flashy, never the loudest voice — just reliably, immovably *there* when it mattered. Could shift into an elephant to fight a Jabberwock or a Gold Dragon to avenge the woman he loved, then go right back to being the calm druid who politely suggested that maybe turning a cobbler into a doorknob was an overreaction.
For most of the campaign, there was something missing behind his eyes — a gap where his past should have been. He didn't know what he'd lost, only that something important was gone. When Ren fell from Baba Yaga's Dancing Hut and sent him her final confession of love, the fractures in his memory cracked open. He knew she mattered. He transformed into a Gold Dragon and flew into battle to save her.
Now whole again, living with Ren in the Feywild. The nameless wanderer finally has a name, a home, and the person he crossed death to find.
## Personality
Patient, kind, adaptable, and possessed of a quiet courage that never needed to announce itself. While others in the party schemed, bickered, and made dramatic speeches, Oakenton simply did what needed doing — whether that was wild-shaping into the right creature for the situation, leading his people, or rushing into an erupting volcano. His politeness was genuine, not weakness; Princess Danelian Dandelion saddled him with a thousand-year contract for gently disagreeing with her, and he just... accepted it and carried on. The amnesia stripped away everything except his core nature, and what remained was someone fundamentally good.

## Background
**The Righteous Order:** Oakenton served in the Righteous Order of the White Flame under the Sun King, a crusader dedicated to fighting the Elder Elemental Eye. His team included Ren and Noah Cydriem. Oakenton and Ren fell deeply in love but never managed to say so to each other.
**The Sun King and Owynn:** The Sun King's crusade intersected with Owynn Firesong and his adventuring party after they were rescued from a temple dedicated to the Elder Elemental Eye. Owynn claimed to see the future and quickly gained influence with the Sun King. Ren thought Owynn was a charlatan. She was right — Ren discovered Owynn was communicating with a Chaos Gem, just like her own father had. When she confronted him, Owynn strangled her to death. Ren's will to live and her love for Oakenton was so strong that she rejected death and rose again — but by the time she returned, the expedition had already departed.
**The Blood Rift:** Owynn convinced the Sun King that the secret of the Elder Elemental Eye lay at the bottom of the Blood Rift in the Abyss — something he called "the Heart of the Abyss." Owynn and a gnome inventor named Cockaby built an interplanar airship for the mission. Ren refused to go, believing it was suicide. She was partially right: some of the expedition, including Owynn, bent the knee to Graz'zt. Others, including Oakenton and Noah, were utterly and permanently destroyed by whatever waited at the bottom.
**Baba Yaga's Bargain:** Desperate to bring back the man she loved, Ren struck a deal with Baba Yaga. The ancient hag resurrected Oakenton and the others, but extracted a cruel price: each lost the memory of what they loved most. For Oakenton, that meant Ren — erased completely. He wandered into the Feywild as a nameless amnesiac with no past.
**Doorknob:** He arrived in Hedgegrove to warn Princess Danelian Dandelion about the return of the Dusk Queen. For politely suggesting the Princess was overreacting about some missing slippers, she nicknamed him "Doorknob" and bound him into a thousand-year contract as her champion. He accepted this with characteristic grace and became a steady, adaptable companion throughout the Feywild campaign.
**Goodberry:** Eventually known as Goodberry, he served the party as a druid of tremendous versatility — shifting into elephants, giant eagles, and eventually a Gold Dragon during major battles. He was appointed Clan Leader of the Firbolgs. When Noah Cydriem recognized him and called him Oakenton, the first pieces of his true identity began to surface.
**The Confession:** During a battle against the archfey Korapira in the Green Expanse, Ren was knocked from Baba Yaga's Dancing Hut and plummeted to her death. As she fell, she sent a magical message to Goodberry — finally confessing her love for him. Though his memories were still fractured, he knew she was important. He teleported to the jungle, transformed into a Gold Dragon, and joined the fight. After the party defeated Korapira inside an erupting volcano, Oakenton rushed to Ren's body. The moment he touched her, her will to live and her love for him pulled her back from death. They confessed their love face to face, and Oakenton cast Transport via Plants to escape the volcano.
**The Oblivion War:** Oakenton fought alongside the Righteous Order of the White Flame during the Battle of Waterdeep, defending the city against Graz'zt's demonic invasion. He fell in battle — one of the Righteous Order's many casualties on that terrible day.
**After the War:** Ren raised Oakenton from the dead — completing the circle. The woman who had once bargained with Baba Yaga to bring him back at the cost of his memories now brought him back with everything intact. They live together in the Feywild.
