# Xyrbwynn
_Half-Elf Sorcerer | Heroes of Waterdeep | Waterdeep_
## Summary
Sorcerer and founding member of the Heroes of Waterdeep whose life was defined by a catastrophically complicated family tree, accidental murders, clutch Wish spells, and a refusal to let her origins define her. Daughter of Marlos Urnrayle (the Earth Prophet and medusa) and Sumnes Kalinoth (a fey noble of House Kalinoth whom Marlos murdered). Raised under the name "Xyrbwynn Strongseed" after Urstul Floxin — her adoptive father and a Black Network assassin — saved her as an infant and panicked when asked her name. Half-sister to Aerisi Kalinoth (the Air Prophet) through their mother Sumnes Kalinoth, who was married to Ambassador Eiravel Kalinoth but had an affair with Marlos Urnrayle that produced Xyrbwynn. Half-sister to Kurogash (through Marlos's atrocities against the Black Claw orcs) and Isabel Urnrayle (through Marlos's wife Emelina).
Was killed and temporarily reincarnated as a blue dragonborn during a battle with Graz'zt, eventually restored to half-elf form. Cursed into a medusa by her grandmother Avareene, the Lich Queen of Skullport, using the same Snake Ring that originally transformed Marlos. Eventually cured of both. Disintegrated her father's corpse. Used Wish to save the party from undead Marlos, and again during the final battle against Tharizdun. Banished to Aralu by Queen Titania for drunkenly disintegrating Eris Bloom, spent much of the Feywild campaign disguised as an Eladrin named Trissatra, and earned her freedom through a blood oath to the Summer Queen.
After the wars, served in Force Grey, founded an orphanage in Waterdeep, wandered, and has since joined the hunt for Graz'zt.

## At a Glance
A half-elf who has been a dragonborn, a medusa, a prisoner, a double agent, a pirate (briefly), and an orphanage founder. Xyrbwynn's identity has been rewritten more times than most people change clothes, and she's carried each transformation with the same combination of defiance and dark humor.
Shimmering light purple hair and an irrepressible urge to flirt with anything that moved. Wild magic surges that once turned her into a goat. An absolute willingness to disintegrate anything that annoyed her. Marlos predicted she would die alone, a silly shattered girl. Instead she helped save the multiverse, founded an orphanage, and is currently hunting a Demon Prince.
## Personality
Reckless, opportunistic, fiercely loyal to the people she considers family, and possessed of a moral flexibility that occasionally alarmed her companions. Xyrbwynn tried to keep the legendary Dragonstaff of Ahghairon for herself after recovering it from a vault. She cast Geas on her unstable sister Aerisi to force compliance. She drunkenly murdered Eris Bloom with two disintegration spells because she misread the situation at the Emerald Toad. And yet — she used Wish to save her friends from her undead father. She disintegrated Marlos's twitching corpse so he could never hurt anyone again. She resurrected Kurogash during the assault on Skullport. She fought through the Feywild in disguise, bound to a Cannibal Queen, with her life forfeit if Pellowea died. Every selfish instinct was eventually overridden by something deeper.
The orphanage she founded in Waterdeep says everything. A woman named by a panicking assassin, raised by strangers, abandoned by her biological father before she could walk — she built a place so that no child would go through what she did.

## Background
**The Name:** Urstul Floxin, a Black Network assassin, saved the infant Xyrbwynn from Marlos Urnrayle, who had murdered her mother Sumnes Kalinoth and threatened to kill the child. Floxin gave her to an elven peasant woman. When asked the baby's name, he panicked and said "Xyrbwynn Strongseed" — the Strongseeds being Marlos's mercenary band. Her entire identity was an assassin's nervous improvisation.
**The Mother:** Sumnes Kalinoth was a half-elf noble of House Kalinoth, married to Ambassador Eiravel Kalinoth, who served as the long-time Ambassador to the Queen of Night and Magic of the Shadow Court. Sumnes lived unhappily at the Shadow Court during her husband's service. Her affair with Marlos Urnrayle — then a Black Network operative — produced Xyrbwynn. Sumnes had previously borne a daughter with Eiravel: Dara, who would become Aerisi Kalinoth, the Air Prophet. Marlos's murder of Sumnes traumatized young Dara and contributed to her transformation into the prophet of the Cult of the Howling Storm.
**The Double Agent:** Traveled to Waterdeep with her half-brother Kurogash searching for their father "Winmar Strongseed" — actually Urstul Floxin. Was captured by the Black Network, had her memories altered, and received a dark magical "black heart." Confessed everything to Mirt and agreed to serve as a double agent against Manshoon. This earned her Mirt's trust and two magic items to aid her cover — making her, as Mya noted, history's greatest liar.
**The Family Tree:** The full horror of her parentage unfolded across campaigns. Floxin confessed he wasn't her father. Marlos Urnrayle taunted her with letters describing her mother's murder and predicting she'd die alone. She discovered Aerisi Kalinoth was her half-sister — both daughters of Sumnes Kalinoth, one through Ambassador Eiravel Kalinoth, one through the affair with Marlos. Isabel Urnrayle was another half-sister through Marlos's wife Emelina. Kurogash was her half-brother through Marlos's crimes against the Black Claw orcs. And her grandmother, Avareene, was a lich. Xyrbwynn's family reunions involved an unusual amount of disintegration.
**The Feywild Disaster:** After a night of heavy drinking at the Emerald Toad inn, Xyrbwynn cast two disintegration spells on Eris Bloom, reducing the Summer Court Ambassador to ash. Queen Titania banished her to Aralu, the Feywild's prison kingdom. There she was tortured and forced into servitude by Jasmine, the Cannibal Queen, who tasked her with capturing Pellowea. Xyrbwynn spent much of the campaign disguised as an Eladrin named Trissatra — at one point aggressively implying to Pellowea that she knew the princess's true identity via threats involving a cosmetics salesman. She eventually earned her freedom through a blood oath to Queen Titania. Her bond to Jasmine also stood, and her life was forfeit if Pellowea died.
**Undead Father:** When undead Marlos Urnrayle ambushed the party and began smashing them to pieces — killing Kurogash and shattering a petrified Baldric — Xyrbwynn used Wish to cast Power Word Stun, saving her friends. After the party killed him, she disintegrated his corpse. Baldric then established Force Grey's new policy: always destroy the bodies of bad guys.
**The Medusa Curse:** Her grandmother Avareene, the Lich Queen of Skullport, cursed Xyrbwynn into a medusa using the same Snake Ring that had originally transformed Marlos. Queen Titania's bond forestalled the madness creeping at the edge of Xyrbwynn's mind but couldn't end the curse. Avareene gave the ring to Graz'zt, meaning Xyrbwynn had to help defeat the Demon Prince to break free. The curse was eventually lifted.
**Reincarnation:** During a battle with Graz'zt, Xyrbwynn was killed and instantly reincarnated as a blue dragonborn. She immediately cast Disintegrate on the Demon Lord. Embracing her new form was, by this point, just another Tuesday. She was eventually restored to her original half-elf form.
**The Oblivion War:** Helped broker the Feywild-Material Plane alliance alongside Reg and Isabel Urnrayle. Used Wish during the final battle against Tharizdun to heal and refresh the exhausted party, securing victory over the cosmic entity. Resurrected Kurogash during the assault on Skullport — he came back as a half-orc, slightly taller this time.
**After the Wars:** Served in Force Grey. Founded an orphanage in Waterdeep — a woman who was given a fake name by a panicking assassin creating a home for children who had no one. Never settled down. Wandered. Eventually joined the hunt for Graz'zt.
