!ArkosXandrosPathfinder-v2.webp # Arkos Xandros _Human Necromancer | Cindersworn (former) | Hunting for a cure_ ## Summary A former Red Wizard turned reluctant Soulmonger who once helped the Cindersworn defeat Thay's forces at Gauntlgrym. Fae Duskdancer told Sister Garaele he'd become a Soulmonger like Petra, which left her troubled. He races Valindra Shadowmantle and Vorthain Crimsonthorn to find a cure, and his search points toward Old Skull Tor. %% ## Now Across the crossing at Old Skull Tor with the heroes. He disarmed the ward on the fissure (S92). He came for Acererak's Tome of Unlife, hoping it can unravel the Soulmonger curse, and he now knows Tashara carries it. He expects Acererak's wards to be difficult and dark, but he does not know the Rite or its price. He answered Garaele's plan to reach Darius Duskdancer through Nathaly Kormallis. He cast *Telepathic Bond* on everyone but Gumdrop and Reese, linked through Petra's connection to Nathaly (S93). He does not know what Darius can do from inside her. He asked to teleport the Ring of Winter to Laeral Silverhand and was refused, allowed only to consult her (S90). ## Appearance Towering frame, skin like weathered parchment, necromantic sigils that glow beneath it when souls are near. His hands tremble when he isn't actively controlling them. ## Personality Intensely remorseful, academically brilliant, desperately controlled. He keeps detailed journals of every soul he's consumed, believing remembrance might lead to their release. His hoarse whisper splits into overlapping voices when he's agitated. ## Quote _"I remember every name. If I stop remembering, their suffering becomes meaningless."_ ## Connections **Petra** — shares his condition; the reason Sister Garaele is troubled. **Sister Garaele** — learned of his transformation and worries for him. **Tashara** — holds the Tome of Unlife he's hunting, unbeknownst to him. **Grimna Blackaxe** — Cindersworn ally who recognized a kindred quest for worth. **Szass Tam** — former master in Thay, whose Dread Ring work drove him to flee. ## Background **The Red Wizard:** He rose as Szass Tam's protégé, overseeing Dread Ring construction until his first completed ring consumed thousands. He fled Thay with critical research. **The Cindersworn:** He proved himself in the fellowship's campaign against the Red Wizards at Gauntlgrym and formed an unlikely bond with Grimna Blackaxe. **The Transformation:** After the fellowship dissolved following Grimna's sacrifice, he retreated into hermitage. Acererak, seeking vengeance on Artus Cimber for rescuing Petra, sent the Sewn Sisters to capture him. They transformed him over nightmarish months. ## Stats Archmage - Soulmonger Trait: when a humanoid dies within 30 ft., DC 15 Wis save or he consumes their soul. - Soul Sight: sees the souls of the recently dead within 60 ft. - Spell swaps: enchantment replaced with necromancy (speak with dead, vampiric touch, spirit shroud). !Archmage %%
