The party met her at [[Krezk]] hunting Strahd; she became a recurring ally through the werewolf dens, the fall of Strahd, and the finale. She'll stab a threat in the back without hesitation, but she reads people well and gives sound counsel; when Vlad's theft threatened the party's standing with the [[Keepers of the Feather|Martikov]]s, she talked everyone into hiding it to keep their trust. Devoted to [[Rudolph van Richten]] to the point that she abandoned her family to follow him. ## Connections **[[Rudolph van Richten]]** — mentor; she left her family to follow him. **Valentina** — sister, estranged; the two argued bitterly over Ezmerelda's leaving. ## Background **The apprentice.** Ezmerelda left her family to train under the vampire hunter [[Rudolph van Richten]], a choice her sister Valentina never forgave. [[Madam Eva]]'s reading pointed the party to a lone Vistana searching for her mentor near Saint Markovia's abbey — Ezmerelda. **The werewolf grudge.** She joined the party's raid on the werewolf den near [[Krezk]]. When the non-hostile werewolf Zuleika turned her back, Ezmerelda stabbed her — she holds an unforgiving grudge against werewolves. **The fall of Strahd.** She fought at [[Krezk]] when Strahd descended, one of the grapples and blades that pinned him for the killing blow. **The rescue.** When [[Rudolph van Richten]] — traveling in disguise as Rictavio — was captured by [[Rahadin]], Ezmerelda immediately set out to free him.
