!Ianaro.webp # Ianaro Albreck _Human Wizard | Lucian Margaster's Apprentice | Neverwinter_ ## Summary Former Redbrands leader known as "Glasstaff," now serving as Lucian Margaster's apprentice. Once a friend to Reese, his hunger for power led to his disgrace in Phandalin. After Sildar Hallwinter captured him and delivered him to Neverwinter, Lucian Margaster offered him a second chance. %% ## Now Dead. He murdered Aldous Redmaine under cover of the Battle of Bryn Shander, striking him from behind before a frost giant took the marshal's head, and then followed the Crimson Terror north aboard the Sapphire Sovereign. Arveiaturace destroyed the ship over the ice and he died in the first pass (S91). Reese confirmed the arcane marks on Redmaine's body and never had proof or a witness. He never got a confrontation either, and now he never will. ## Appearance A thin man with pale complexion and receding dark hair, his intense gaze never quite settling. Wears fine blue and gold robes that do not seem to quite fit him. ## Personality Ambitious, cunning, and increasingly torn between his thirst for power and a fading moral compass. Exhausted with being "a weak nobody," and delving into darker magic to prove otherwise. ## Quote _"Power comes at a price, but is any price too high for true mastery of the arcane?"_ ## Connections **Lucian Margaster** — master; took him on as apprentice after his disgrace. **Reese** — old friend from before Phandalin; how much of that friendship remains is unclear. **Aldous Redmaine** — murdered him at Bryn Shander on Lucian Margaster's orders. ## Background **The Fall:** Led the Redbrands as "Glasstaff" until his hunger for power disgraced him in Phandalin. Sildar Hallwinter captured him and delivered him to Neverwinter. **The Second Chance:** Lucian Margaster saw potential in the fallen mage and took him on as an apprentice. ## Secret "Evil Petra" struck a bargain with him to deliver the Forge of Spells to Dagult Neverember. ## Stats **Base:** Mage (MM p.347). %%
