!ThalamraVanthampurPathfinder-v2.webp # Thalamra Vanthampur _Human Duke | Council of Four | Baldur's Gate_ ## Summary Cunning matriarch of the Vanthampur Family and one of four Dukes ruling Baldur's Gate. She rose from sewer worker to Master of Drains to the Council through decades of ruthless ambition. Three dead husbands, three sons. With Ulder Ravengard missing, she moved to make herself the city's sole ruler, and ran a soul harvest for Zariel behind it. The heroes killed her beneath Vanthampur Manor. Family motto: "Stone Hearts Never Bleed." %% ## Now Dead in the Temple of Zariel beneath Vanthampur Manor. She came through the shrine's secret door with two cultists and a summoned bearded devil, accused the heroes of killing Mortlock, and was turned on her own devil by Lulu's *suggestion*. The heroes killed her after they killed the rest. They took her keys and the speech she meant to give the Parliament of Peers. She never learned that Amrik and Thurstwell ordered Mortlock's death. Her warrant on the heroes still stands. ## Appearance Barrel-chested woman in her late sixties with broad, powerful forearms from years of manual labor. Expensive but practical clothing; weathered hands heavy with rings. ## Personality Ruthlessly ambitious; she believes power is the only security in a hostile world. Patient enough to spend decades building toward a goal, vicious enough to eliminate anyone who threatens it. Sharp-tongued and direct, she wastes no words and prefers private meetings. She sees delivering Baldur's Gate to Avernus as proof that a woman from the sewers can command the fate of cities. ## Quote _"I dragged myself from the sewers to the highest seat in this city. Anyone who thinks I'll surrender that for sentiment is a fool."_ ## Connections **Thavius Kreeg** — hides him in her basement shrine for his knowledge of the Elturel Pact. **Amrik Vanthampur** — son; identifies targets at the Low Lantern. **Mortlock Vanthampur** — son; coordinates with cult leaders. **Thurstwell Vanthampur** — son. **Ulder Ravengard** — rival Duke she eliminated by orchestrating his presence in Elturel. **Dillard Portyr** — next on her list. **Nine-Fingers Keene** — The Guild boss who suspects her moves. **Nysene Eomane** — her chosen scapegoat. ## Background **The Climb:** Born in the slums, she worked the sewers and learned the city's literal underbelly. Three strategic marriages, each husband dying under circumstances that raised whispers but few questions. As Master of Drains she gained intimate knowledge of hidden infrastructure. **The Shield:** She acquired the Shield of the Hidden Lord through Knights of the Shield connections. Gargauth's guidance turned her from ambitious politician into infernal conspirator. **The Sanctuary:** She hides Thavius Kreeg in her basement shrine to Zariel, where he writes "divine missives" for Dead Three cultists and provides the knowledge needed to replicate Elturel's fall. **The Murder Operation:** Through a Dead Three alliance she orchestrates the assassination of Hellrider and Order of the Companion descendants — Amrik identifies targets at the Low Lantern, Mortlock coordinates with cult leaders, and bodies appear in Insight Park. **The Endgame:** She plans to deliver Baldur's Gate to Avernus. Having already eliminated Ulder Ravengard, Dillard Portyr is next. ## Secret Her sons don't know the full scope of her plans, and Amrik and Thurstwell secretly plot against Mortlock — she knows about neither conspiracy. ## Stats **Base:** Duke Thalamra Vanthampur (Descent into Avernus). Fights with political cunning and infernal magic from Zariel and Gargauth. - Slobberchops (tressym familiar) provides surveillance. %%
