![[VolothampGeddarmPathfinder-v2.webp]] # Volothamp Geddarm _Human Chronicler | [[Harpers]] | [[Waterdeep]]_ ## Summary The famous chronicler, wizard, and celebrity known simply as "Volo," renowned for his travel guides and encyclopedic monster knowledge. During [[Dragon Heist]] he hired the party to rescue [[Floon Blagmaar]] and, unable to pay, gave them [[Trollskull Manor]] instead. His investigation into [[Dagult Neverember]]'s corruption led to his capture and torture by the [[Gilded Gallows]] in the [[Gloomcellar]], from which the party rescued him. In gratitude he gifted [[Kan'Rahd]] a magical pendant that summons his image to quote monster lore. %% ## Now Travels with the party in corporeal form, an active ally lending his lore and pen to their cause. ## Appearance Middle-aged human with wild salt-and-pepper hair, a scraggly beard, and eyebrows that crawl up his forehead when excited. Worn but sturdy traveling clothes stuffed with notes, pens, maps, and trinkets; his hands are constantly in motion. ## Personality Insatiably curious, prone to exaggeration, good-hearted but scatterbrained. Uses elaborate, grandiose language and will risk life and limb for an accurate story. Mispronounces complex words, either from misunderstanding or because he prefers his version. ## Quote _"Every creature, every place, and every legend has a tale worth telling. I am merely the quill that transcribes their narratives!"_ ## Connections **[[Kan'Rahd]]** — gifted him the lore-quoting pendant. **[[Renaer Neverember]]** — sheltering with him at the [[Brandarthall Estate]]. ## Background **Feywild Adventures:** Spent thirty years in the [[Feywild]] researching the love story of [[Kali Firesong]] and [[Pellowea]]. He accidentally became betrothed to an Eladrin prince, was crowned "Pumpkin King" after winning a gourd-eating contest, and survived a chase from a Quickling named Speedy McStabface — leaving him with an irrational fear of tiny, fast-moving creatures. ## Stats **Base:** Noble (MM p.348), modified. - Proficiency in History and Nature. - 2nd-level wizard spells. %%
