He's one of the most popular deities among common folk because he represents hope, community, and the life-giving warmth of the sun. His followers work to help the suffering, bring light to dark places, and show compassion to everyone. Pelor particularly hates undead and directs his faithful to destroy them wherever found. In the time before the Dawn War, Pelor was one of three young gods who discovered the [[Living Gate]] alongside [[Ioun]] and [[Tharizdun]]. While he and [[Ioun]] kept their vow never to return to the gate, [[Tharizdun]]'s ambition led him back to find the [[Shard of Evil]] that corrupted him into the [[Tharizdun|Chained God]]. This made Pelor [[Tharizdun]]'s greatest enemy. During the [[Feywild]] campaign, Pelor appeared as the [[Sun King]], leading a crusade against the [[Elder Elemental Eye]] with companions including [[Ren]], [[Noah]], [[Marie]], and [[Goodberry]]. When [[Owynn Firesong]], corrupted by [[Graz'zt]], murdered [[Ren]] for discovering his betrayal, the expedition ended tragically. Pelor directly aided the party heroes with divine interventions and guidance. He also showed remarkable compassion toward [[Vanifer]], trying to redeem her despite her role as a fire cult prophet. He recognized that she had been manipulated and corrupted rather than being inherently evil, though [[Vanifer]] may have proven him wrong about the possibility of redemption.
