_Ancient Black Dragon | [[Mere of Dead Men]]_
## Summary
"The Black Death"—the ancient black dragon who rules the treacherous [[Mere of Dead Men]] with absolute authority. When the party first encountered him, he had just finished silencing a group of mercenaries permanently with his devastating acid breath.
A cunning negotiator despite his fearsome reputation, he struck a bargain: the party would cleanse the Mere of [[Cult of the Dragon]] cultists in exchange for their lives. He directed them to [[Ebondeath's Mausoleum]] to retrieve the dead dracolich's treasure, including a coveted silver crown.
When the party attempted to deceive him by helping the [[Wands]] family instead of immediately following his orders, he confronted them again, clearly annoyed. Through [[Bussy]]'s negotiation and [[Baldric]]'s impressive persuasion, they ultimately convinced him they harbored no deceptive intentions. He departed with his payment—though another large invisible creature watched nearby.
Memorable moment: [[Carrot]] made the spectacularly ill-advised decision to bop the ancient dragon on the nose.

## At a Glance
Massive ancient black dragon with acid-scarred scales. Eyes glitter with cold intelligence. Aura of barely contained menace. Shows particular interest when examining magical items.
Businesslike and pragmatic. Speaks with the authority of absolute power. Uses precise, economical language—no wasted words. Views adventurers as useful tools rather than threats to eliminate.
## Personality
Actually twin dragons posing as one—his brother [[Waervaerendor]] was likely nearby during encounters (the invisible creature). They share an unusually powerful empathic link and act as one soul in two bodies. Will retreat underwater to avoid other dragons and preserve the twin secret.
Seeks the [[Twin Crowns of Myrmoran]] to enhance empathic bond with twin. Interested in different form of immortality than standard dracolich transformation.
